Nature Outing Report: Boyle Point, March 28, 2013

Postponed from March 20 (a day that included wind, rain, hail, snow & sun!) four members explored Boyle Point Park & Morrison Marsh on Denman Island.  Nature Student blog has a selection of photos.    Additional bird highlights were numerous Yellow-rumped Warblers, Red Crossbills, and a Turkey Vulture. Notable plants were the forest of old-growth Douglas-fir, many arbutus & a few Garry oak on the bluffs, & evergreen huckleberry throughout. The 9 km hike included some  sections of blow-down along the south bluff, though there are alternative trails.
