Welcome to CVN’s Comox Valley Trees page.
For seven years (2018–2024), Comox Valley Nature hosted very successful Tree of the Year and Trees of the Year (TOTY) events, asking residents of the Valley to nominate a special tree. The wealth of information submitted about local trees, including their unique stories, photographs and locations was impressive, and sparked a desire by CVN members to explore additional ways of engaging with the public in all things tree-related. These have included a series of very popular knowledge walks (starting in 2025), developing a pamphlet highlighting TOTY nominated trees, and creating cycling and route maps of tree-rich areas.
In 2026, the TOTY team renamed itself to Comox Valley Trees (CVT). This new name better reflects the full range of activities undertaken by this group of dedicated volunteers who, through these and other future activities encourage Comox Valley residents to take a deeper dive into the world of trees and their importance to the ecosystems in our gardens, in our local parks, in urban forests, and in our wild areas.
For CVT activities such as knowledge walks with limited capacity, be sure to check CVN’s Events page to register for such events.
