The Birding Group has weekly bird walks to enjoy bird watching and improve bird identification skills. A bird walk is scheduled for the first Sunday of each month. On all other weeks of the month they are scheduled on Thursdays. The location and meeting times are announced a few days in advance using the group’s email distribution list.
In recent years, the observations from each bird walk are recorded in eBird. You can also read all our blog posts related to birds here, including some reports from older bird walks.
CVN members who wish to receive notices of meetings, bird walks and other issues of interest to birders can request to be added to the email distribution list — send email to the group leader (see the Contacts page).
CVN conducts or participates in three bird counts:
- annual Spring count
- annual Christmas count
- weekly Trumpeter Swan counts in winter.
