Education and Outreach at Public Events

Our nifty new tent at the MARS native plant event.

Comox Valley Nature participates enthusiastically along with other organizations at multiple community events during the year. For example, we’re typically at school eco-fairs, Family Watershed Day, the MARS native plant event, a Comox Valley Farmers’ Market event, and others. As a supporter of the Bird-Friendly Comox project, we appeared at their 2026 event at Filberg Park. Having other environmental organizations with their messages and missions all around us adds up to quite a buzz of energy.

Typically, from 35 to over 100 people stop at our booth at any one event to ask questions, pick up brochures, see what activities we offer, play our bird and plant games, and ask about the native and invasive plants on display. In cooperation with Comox Valley Regional District, educating the public about the harms of invasive plants is an important part of our mission.

Watch for our tent at these events to learn about invasive plants and about CVN activities. Also, pick up a free brochure featuring our Nature Viewing Guide to natural areas in the region.
